The Athena Creed

The Athena Camp provides a wide range of experiences. There is a separate curriculum for middle and high school musicians.

All Girls Symphonic Band and Orchestra
Learn and review performance fundamentals such as balance, blend, intonation, and musicianship. Students will perform in a Finale Concert on Thursday afternoon.

Past guest clinicians and performers include members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, the St. Cloud Municipal Band, the Atlanta Celli, the 116th United States Army Band, the Midtown Brass Quintet, the Tufton Tet, and the Georgia Brass Band, as well as corporate, college, and community leaders and musicians from across the country.

The Athena Camp faculty consists of highly successful, professional women who teach band, orchestra, and private music lessons at the elementary, middle & high school, and college levels. Many faculty members have been with us since the camp's inception in 2008.

Faculty and Special Guests

Today I can take my place in the world, because

Through my music I can make someone happy

Through my music I can talk to anyone

Through my music I can climb mountains

Through my music I can share how I feel

Through my music I can control myself

Through my music I can walk in your shoes

Through my music I can learn, I can listen, I can be a friend.

Why Athena?

Named for the Greek goddess of the arts and wisdom, the Athena Camp was created:

  • To provide a comprehensive, five-day, intensive study for female middle and high school level musicians, taught by successful female professional music educators
  • To develop and encourage musical excellence through performance fundamentals, theoretical understanding, and music appreciation in a stimulating learning environment
  • To offer insights to the music profession and advance knowledge and awareness of future opportunities in music and music education
